Welcome to my page.

Dear
Ms. Lloyd

I wish to study the mechanics of Bows. I have recently taken up archery and have earned my J.O.A.D. indoor compound white star. I wish to study how different bows work and explain the basics of archery. I will make a 3d representation of the different types of bows, explain how they work and explain the Olympic scoring system.

Sincerely
John Boudreau

Notes

  • Basic mechanics
On all bows exept compounds draw weight increeses as draw lenght increses
The limbs act like springs
  • Coumpound
Mech. advantage comes from oval shaped cams wich act as levers
  • recurve
simalar to long bows but curve minamizes brace height and increeses energy use
  • long
a long bow requires much energy to draw and maximizes arow speed.
  • short
Shorter draw equils less efort and less speed
  • composite
Made of diferent materials to increase volocity
  • arrows
Arrows are usualy made of wood, fiberglass, alluminum, carbon.
the fleching is makes the arrow spin and guides it after twenty yards.
  • Misc. Equip.
sights aim lowest is for farthes disances
Arm gaurd protects from string lash
finger tabs or cabel realease protect from archers finger
  • Olimpics
the olimpic scoring sytem has eleven rings the sc ore is counted from inside to out a shot on the line counts for the higher score the center is two yellows an x which is 10 points and a tie breaker the second ring is a ten the next ring is red and the iner is 9 the outer is 8 and it continues blue, black, white. for complete rules visit this website (if you have time by the way the shortest section is 284 pages long.) http://www.usarchery.org/userfiles/file/2008_Rules_Book1.pdf
